Grand Master S.H. Yu
A native of Incheon, South Korea, Grand Master Yu has dedicated his life to the martial arts. Grand Master Yu holds numerous commendations and honorary degrees for teaching excellence, technical skills and student development. His achievement of three 8th Degree Black Belts is so rare that he is in a class by himself among martial artists.

He is the longtime student of Grand Master Byung Jick Ro, one of the founding fathers of modern Tae Kwon Do. Grand Master Yu earned the title of Master Instructor (5th Degree Black Belt) at an early age, recognized for his natural ability of combining artistic skill with a talent for teaching. His other life accomplishments include:
- Honorable service in the Republic of Korea Army (Retired)
- Martial arts instructor Special Forces Republic of Korea Army
- United States Citizenship
- Teaching the physically challenged martial arts
- Extensive community service with a focus on children
He has been training students in the Oak Park/River Forest area over 15 years. His goal is a practical and achievable approach for everyone, regardless of body type, age or gender.
Grand Master S.H. YU has been recognized as a Kumdo Master (5th Degree Black Belt) by the World Haidong Kumdo Federation. Kumdo is the Art of the Sword. It is similar to the Kendo, Iaido or Kenjitsu. Kumdo, however, predates these art forms by several hundred years reaching back to the Korea’s Three Kingdoms era starting in 600 A.D.
