Master S.H. Yu Martial Arts is a traditional martial arts school in Oak Park, IL, led by internationally recognized 9th-Dan Sr. GrandMaster Yu since 1994. Students of all ages train Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Aikido, and Judo in one combined curriculum, with dedicated Kumdo and Gumdo classes for the Korean sword arts. Families come to us from across Chicago’s western suburbs and the West Side to build confidence, discipline, and real self-defense skills.

Our studio at 6701 W North Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302 sits right where Oak Park, Elmwood Park, River Forest, and Chicago’s Galewood neighborhood meet, an easy drive from every community we serve. One location means every student, from every town, learns directly from Sr. GrandMaster Yu and instructors he personally trained, not from a franchise branch.

Our home since 1994. The studio is on North Avenue at Oak Park’s northern edge, minutes from anywhere in the village.

River Forest, IL

River Forest families reach us in about 11 minutes, straight up Harlem or Lathrop to North Avenue.

Elmwood Park, IL

Elmwood Park is directly across North Avenue from our studio; many of our students walk or drive over in 12 minutes.

Forest Park, IL

Forest Park families are about 13 minutes south of the studio via Harlem Avenue.

Riverside, IL

Riverside students make the 25 minute drive north for training they cannot find closer to home.
